Coach T never expected that serving youth would become one of the most meaningful callings of his life. What began as an opportunity to teach basketball has grown into a deep commitment to supporting young people in East Palo Alto and neighboring Peninsula communities as they develop academically, athletically, socially, and personally.

His passion is rooted in challenging the outdated belief that young people should simply accept limited opportunities or settle for the circumstances around them. Coach T believes every child deserves access to caring adults, positive influences, meaningful opportunities, and a community that is fully invested in their future.

As a dedicated youth advocate, Coach T works to bring community leaders, families, mentors, educators, coaches, and supporters together around one shared priority: our youth. He believes personal differences and political interests must be set aside when the well-being and future of young people are at stake.

​

Through basketball, Coach T teaches much more than advanced athletic skills. He uses the game to develop discipline, accountability, teamwork, perseverance, leadership, character, and critical-thinking skills that young people can carry with them throughout life. For him, success is not measured by financial gain. It is reflected in the relationships built, the confidence developed, and the moment a young person sees him in the community and proudly says, “Hi, Coach T!” That simple acknowledgment represents trust, respect, connection, and lasting impact.

Under Coach T’s leadership, the organization has expanded beyond sports to provide a more comprehensive youth-development experience. Programs now include the Sports Academy, Scholars Academy, A Better Me, S.T.E.A.M. Beyond the Court, financial literacy education, academic guidance, continued mentorship, and exposure to college and career pathways.

Coach T remains committed to helping young people recognize their potential, strengthen their character, expand their vision, and understand that where they begin does not have to determine where they finish.
